Session Summary: Semiconductors have evolved into one of the world’s most strategically significant industries as our day-to-day lives increasingly depend on the technological progress of these tiny components. An industry that is $500bn in size today is expected to be $1tn by 2030. Today, globalization is threatened by geopolitical tensions and protectionist trade policies – causing it to go into retreat. Using the semiconductor chip as an example of the importance of an interconnected world, this shift has significant consequences.
