Session Summary: The governmental retirement plan landscape continues to evolve. This session will discuss recent developments in federal and state law affecting governmental plans, including defined benefit pension plans, defined contributions plans, and 457(b) plans.

Instructors

David C. Will

David an Attorney at Law with Royal-Will Law Firms. He is a graduate of Florida State University. As a member of the renowned Marching Chiefs, he participated in its Mideast Tour including representing the US at the World Trade Fair in Syria. After graduating from Mercer University’s law school, he served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Georgia and is now in private practice. He has over 40 years of experience in providing services to public pension funds. He currently serves as the General Counsel for 4 of Georgia’s public pension funds—the Georgia Firefighters’ Pension Fund, the Georgia Peace Officers’ Annuity and Benefit Fund, the Georgia Sheriffs’ Retirement Fund and the Judges of the Probate Courts Retirement Fund of Georgia. He helped found the Georgia Association of Public Pension Trustees and is a regular presenter at its Conferences and Trustee School. In addition to practicing law, he also serves as Municipal Court Judge.

Morgan Wurst, CTP, CRPF™

Morgan started with the Georgia Firefighters' Pension Fund on November 2, 2009 and was named Executive Director & CIO May 1, 2014. Prior to that, he worked 8 years in Atlanta, GA for BellSouth/AT&T in their Treasury organization as a financial manager and 2 years in Houston, TX as an economic & financial consultant for Arthur Andersen. He holds an undergraduate degree in accounting from Florida State University, as well as a graduate degree in accounting from the University of Texas @ Austin. He is a Certified Treasury Professional.
