Who Me? Understanding Your Role as a 457 and 401a Plan Fiduciary

Summary: Given the increased focus and scrutiny of 457 and 401a plans, this session will cover what you need to know about prudent fiduciary oversight of deferred compensation and defined contribution plans.  The session will cover topics such as: who is a fiduciary, carrying out fiduciary duties, monitoring plan fees and best practices when executing a recordkeeper search.

Paul Murray, CPFA

In his current role as Consultant, Paul is a member of AndCo Consulting’s Retirement Solutions Group.  He works with plan sponsors, trustees and retirement committees to deliver investment and administrative solutions to deferred compensation, defined contribution and defined benefit pension plans.

In addition to assisting clients with plan design, drafting investment policy statements and the selection / ongoing monitoring of investments, Paul supports clients with the governance, administration and compliance of their retirement programs.  Paul is very familiar with the product offerings, system platforms, technology and pricing for the largest providers because he has performed many Request for Proposals (RFPs) and pricing RFIs for clients and prospective clients. 

Paul has nearly 30 years of industry experience and has spent his entire career specializing in institutional recordkeeping and administration of retirement plans.  Throughout his career, Paul has worked for employee benefits consulting firms and several of the largest service providers in the country.

As a GAPPT presenter, Paul has received information regarding educational instructional methods and adult learning processes.
